Joyce (Joey) Shumaker

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

In July 2025, Joey relocated to Corpus Christi from Minnesota and joined our agency in October of the same year. She brings a wealth of housing experience, having previously worked with the Housing and Redevelopment Authority in Minnesota. Her background encompasses various sectors, including Section 8, Public Housing, Senior Housing, and serving on the City Council for the Third Ward.

Rudy Hernandez

DEPUTY DIRECTOR

Rudy has been a dedicated member of the Mathis Housing Authority since 1998. He began his journey as a laborer, and within just three years, he was promoted to office clerk. His career continued to advance as he took on roles such as Public Housing Specialist, Section 8 Specialist, and Office Manager. Today, he proudly serves as the Deputy Director. With experience in every position within the agency, Rudy possesses a comprehensive understanding of all its operations.

KEN PRIDGEON

PUBLIC HOUSING/SECTION 8

Ken joined our agency in April 2026, bringing with him extensive experience in customer service and management. A proud Navy veteran, he enjoys playing in a band during his free time and cherishes moments spent with his wife, Beth.
In his role, Ken will oversee our Public Housing and Section 8 departments, always ready and eager to assist where needed.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Amada became a valued member of our agency in May 2026. With her exceptional customer service skills, she consistently brings a friendly and helpful attitude to our staff, applicants, and tenants.
As a busy mother of three, Amada balances her family life while working part-time to support our agency.

Meet Our Maintenance Professionals

Our maintenance technicians are dedicated to keeping the property safe, functional, and well-maintained for all residents. With experience in general repairs, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC systems, and preventative maintenance, they work diligently to ensure that every home and common area remains in excellent condition.

 

Juan Miranda

LEAD MAINTENANCE

Juan became a part of our agency in 2008, starting in the maintenance department. In 2018, he earned a promotion to Maintenance Supervisor. Now, he expertly oversees the maintenance operations for all our properties, demonstrating extensive knowledge across all areas of the field.

James Ruiz

MAINTENANCE PROFESSIONAL

James joined our agency in late 2025, bringing valuable construction experience with him. He is eager to learn and has quickly adapted to his new role. Dedicated to the Fulton property, James is also ready to assist with other properties as needed.
